The first steps

Maylee took her first steps last week!! We've been so excited for her to reach this milestone, and it got us thinking back to Kaleb's first steps at 10 months! We tracked down the video of that one too... sorry about the quality, it's from blake's phone. I can't believe how fast time has flown! It seems just yesterday we took that video, but at the same time so long ago! Watching Kaleb take his first steps again made my heart swell! Our kids have brought us so much joy! We are so blessed!

Please excuse the kaleb lecture... he was apparently a little jealous of Maylee's attention!

A YEAR

FROM THIS

TO THIS

My baby girl is ONE! I can not believe how fast time has gone. Maylee has been so fun to have around, I'm anxious to see how she develops even more this next year. Already she's such a little comiedian, and a feisty one too! She loves making funny faces and laughing. Her trademark is her scream. We call her our little Pterodactyl... every time something (usually Kaleb) happens that she doesn't like she lets us know by her scream! Thankfully her cute laugh and smiles make up for those moments! :) She says a few words now, "Hi" since about 9 months, "Up" and "Hey". Sometimes she says "dada" to Blake, but not consistently enough to where I know if I should count it as a word or not. This morning she started to say "mama" so I'm hoping that sticks too! She's learning to walk right now, she takes more and more steps each day, but we haven't gotten to the point where it is the chosen mode of transportation yet! She will walk all around the house pushing her baby stroller or bus. She loves her baby dolls. Pretty much every time you see her she will have a baby in her hands or her purse! Such a girl! Which makes me so happy! I love stuff like that! I don't ever want her to be prissy, but I can't wait for the day that she puts her pretty dress on to go play in the mud! I can definitely see that personality in her too! She loves playing with her brother and daddy. I've never seen a little girl go so quickly to be a part of the wrestling match! But she also sees a bow and "ahh"'s over it and tries to put it in her hair!
So naturally for her birthday party we decided to have a princess theme! Blake carried on the tradition of making the big birthday cake for the baby to tackle... this year it was a frog. :) It turned out great! I think he just needs to be deemed the cake maker in this family! With his artistic skills there is no way that I can compete! Her party turned out so fun! She has three little cousin girls that all wore princess dresses too, then all the boys got to wear crowns (from burger king) :) She was so happy with all the attention, loved every toy she opened, and couldn't understand why I would take them away right after she opened them! Here are some of the pictures.....

The Princess and her royal subjects... no one was quite cooperating for the picture!

The princess had to kiss it... just to see :)

Getting all cleaned up in the kitchen sink!

The Easters

This Easter was a fun, but busy one!! It all started Thursday with our playgroup easter egg hunt. Unfortunately I didn't think to bring my camera to document anything, but I'll try to steal them off my friends blogs when they post them! :) It was so fun to get together with everyone, we even had a long lost friend that moved away at the beginning of the year come and show off her new baby! Friday wasn't Easter related, but we celebrated Maylee's birthday that night with the best princess party that I've ever been too! :) That post will come next. Then Saturday. With it being conference weekend we scheduled my side of the families eater party between sessions, then hurried home to watch second session, and then hurried out to Salem so Blake could go to priesthood with his brothers and dad. Sunday we spent all morning and day at home doing our own easter celebrations, then went out to Blake's parents for dinner and another egg hunt! By the time we were done with egg hunts we had WAY too much candy! But no worries, we're dealing with it the best we can!! ;)

Easter Morning with our little bunny who had lop-sided piggy tails!

Kaleb was loving all the CANDY filled eggs!

With all the the Hoopla of the holiday, I was so glad that conference was on Easter. It was so nice to listen to the leaders of our church, including the Prophet of God on the holiday that celebrates the life and resurrection of our Savior. I am truly grateful for the knowledge I have of Jesus Christ and of a Father in Heaven who loves us.
